About Datipay
The service, the problem it solves, and the company behind it
The problem
Millions of people save together in tontines, njangis, and community associations. The money moves — by mobile money, by cash, by credit-union deposit — but the record lives in a treasurer’s notebook or a WhatsApp message that gets edited, buried, and disputed. When memory is the ledger, trust carries all the weight.
What Datipay does
Datipay is a WhatsApp-based service that keeps the shared record for savings groups:
- Confirmed contributions. Whether a member pays by MTN Mobile Money, Orange Money, cash to the treasurer, or a credit-union deposit, Datipay verifies the event and issues a numbered receipt.
- Group rules, applied consistently. Late-contribution fines, meeting attendance, payout order — recorded the way the group decided, visible to the officers the group elected.
- Reminders before deadlines. Members are notified before contributions are due and informed clearly when something is late.
- Reports on demand. Any member can ask for their balance; the bureau can pull the full group report — who has paid, arrears, open collections, next beneficiary.
- Solidarity collections. When the group raises funds for a bereavement, illness, or celebration, every franc given is acknowledged and totaled transparently.
What Datipay is not
Datipay is not a bank, not a microfinance institution, and not a money transmitter. Datipay does not accept deposits, does not hold, custody, or transmit customer funds, and does not lend. Funds move through the channels your group already uses and remain with those providers or with your group’s own officers. Datipay’s role is the record: verification, receipts, reminders, and reporting.
The operator
Datipay is a product of Herman Stone INC, a corporation registered in the State of California, United States. Herman Stone INC is a network and security engineering company with nearly two decades of experience building and operating enterprise infrastructure for healthcare, technology, and public-sector organizations — environments where records must be verifiable, access must be controlled, and every change must leave an audit trail.
That is the engineering culture Datipay is built with: pinned software versions, double-entry accounting on a core banking ledger, role-separated automation, and a receipt for everything.
